Yesterday was the worst sports day of the year.

The ESPYS are great to celebrate what goes on in sports for the past 12 months, but there’s no competitive sporting events besides Summer League basketball, WNBA, and the AAA All-Star game.

Probably the highlight of the day was the U.S. Women’s National Team’s parade through New York, where U.S. Soccer President Carlos Cordeiro didn’t know how to pronounce Megan Rapinoe’s name (or tournament for that matter). He was also oblivious by Ashlyn Harris asking about equal pay:

Back to Summer League for a moment. This was probably the best thing to come out of Las Vegas last night, thanks to Nick Perkins taking Mitchell Robinson’s headband and throwing it at him:

Good news, there is ONE baseball game tonight: Astros vs. Rangers at 8 PM on ESPN. Sports will really get going again tomorrow.

The Roundup:

Once again, due to the fact that nothing is going on in sports, we’re combining all Philly teams into one section.

We’ll start with the Sixers, who officially announced the Al Horford and Tobias Harris deals. And the Summer Sixers lost to Pistons 96-81. Matisse Thybulle and Jalen Jones led the way with 12 points. They finished outside the top 8, so they’ll have one more game before flying home.

For the Phillies, Jake Arrieta will make his next start despite having elbow issues. And even though he tore his ACL earlier in the season, Andrew McCutchen’s wife threw him his own All-Star party. How nice.

For the Eagles, tight end Zach Ertz surprised his wife and U.S. soccer star Julie Ertz on Good Morning Football.

And we know more about the Live! Hotel and Casino near the South Philadelphia stadium complex.
