Well, at least the first quarter went really well. But after that, yikes.

The Sixers fell to the Brooklyn Nets 116-108 last night in a game they should have won. Joel Embiid led the Sixers with 29 points and 14 rebounds, and Ben Simmons added 24. JJ Redick returned and scored 20 points.

The team led by one early in the fourth quarter, but the Nets scored 11 straight for the win.

They also lost to the Nets on social media:

Nik Stauskas had three points, three assists, and four rebounds, and Jahlil Okafor scored eight points and three rebounds. He also had four fouls on the night, all coming in his first eight minutes of play (he had three fouls in three minutes). But he was happy he beat the Sixers.

“Yeah, if I were to say that win didn’t feel great I’d be lying,” said Okafor, who played just twice for the 76ers before the Dec. 7 deal. “It felt awesome to be able to pull it out.

“For Nik and I to be able to go out there and help win was great. That being said, I’m pulling for those guys, and I hope they make the playoffs.”

Sixers start a back-to-back Friday night against the Miami Heat. It’ll be “Brotherly Love” night, where the team will go all-out and celebrate the Eagles reaching the Super Bowl.

The trade deadline is next Thursday, and the Sixers are reportedly interested in Tyreke Evans.

The Roundup:

Similar to the Sixers, the Flyers had a fast start against the Washington Capitals, but then cooled off considerably after the first 20 minutes in a 5-3 loss.

Nolan Patrick and Travis Konecny scored in the first 7:50 of the game, before Washington got rolling with two goals from Chandler Stephenson (who?) and Andre Burakovsky in the second period, before T.J. Oshie and Devante Smith-Pelly finished things off in the third.

Jake Voracek scored a goal in the third, and Michal Neuvirth gave up five goals and made 20 saves in a little over 49 minutes of action. Alex Lyon played the remaining minutes and made five saves.

The team is back in action again tonight against the Devils at 7 PM on NBC Sports Philadelphia. Could Lyon make the start?

Anthony has a one-on-one with Flyers President Paul Holmgren that’s definitely worth reading.

The Eagles returned to practice, but not in pads. Everyone was a full participant in practice, with the exception of Tim Jernigan, who sat out due to an illness.

Quarterbacks coach John DeFilippo is being linked to Minnesota’s offensive coordinator vacancy.

The team will come out to Meek Mill’s “Dreams and Nightmares” Sunday night:

“If you’re going to go with a Philly song,” Graham said, “that’s the one you’re going with.”

Mill is currently serving a sentence of two to four years for a parole violation stemming from two arrests. It was a controversial sentencing, as prosecutors recommended no jail time.

“Meek, you know, he’s locked up right now,” Eagles rookie defensive end Derek Barnett said, “so we have to hold the city down for him.”

Mill released a statement last week saying it “really lifted my spirit to hear the team rallying around my songs.” He’ll surely get another lift to find out the team will use “Dreams and Nightmares” on the NFL’s biggest stage on Sunday.

“It just gets us going,” Barnett said. “It gives us good energy. Just a little extra juice.”

Fletcher Cox should sport this Lucha mask Sunday:

It was Doug Pederson’s 50th birthday yesterday. We found out he really likes ice cream.

Bob Brookover is an idiot.

If you are going to the Super Bowl, the list of things you can’t bring is long. But dog masks are allowed.

You can still go to the game too! There might not be a ton of Patriots fans either.

Alexa really hates the Patriots:

This song needs to be played at your Super Bowl party on Sunday.

Always love Brian Westbrook:

Go Mets?
