The Big Piece is so commercial.

Reader Greg passed along this little gem from Tom Clancy's new book, Dead or Alive:

Jack Ryan Jr is discussing the large volume of electronic intelligence the NSA and CIA gather, and how they are only able to process about 20% of the cables, emails etc.  Jack Ryan Jr. notes that this large amount of data is overwhelming, but (even) with this volume came opportunities:

“Kind of like Ryan Howard, Jack thought.  Swing at a lot of pitches, strike out a lot, but hit a ton of home runs. Hopefully.”

Heh.  Had this book gone to press after October 23rd, that line might look a little bit different.

We kid.

By our count, that puts Ryan Howard in three TV shows, (IAS, Entourage, Letterman) and two books (Clancy and Guinness), on one garden gnome, at two Eagles games, an LSU game, a bar opening, and one amusement park.  Phew.
