Spread

The Eagles are a 6-point favorite over Washington on the spread, holding steady early in the week just shy of the all-important one-touchdown favorite level.

Despite having a slew of injuries, the Eagles still remain a relatively heavy favorite over Washington, especially considering they’re “on the road.” I put on the road in quotes because it’s unclear what impact fan-less stadiums will have on the game and the line.

The NFL, more than any other sport, relies on homefield advantage with crowds at full-throat to disrupt the the snap count at the line. As such, home teams give three points right off the bat. Whether that will be the case this year remains to be seen.

Moneyline

The Eagles opened at around -270 on the moneyline, but that has ticked down a bit with their current odds set at -255 and the best bet currently available at FanDuel Sportsbook, which implies a 71.8 win probability.

Bettors backing Washington can get them at +225 at DraftKings Sportsbook, where they have a 30.8 win probability.

Total

The over-under for the Eagles and Washington is set fairly low at 43.5. Some books have it as low as 43.

Lackluster expectations for the Washington (formerly known as the Redskins) along with injuries to much of the Eagles’ starting offensive unit only further concerns about a lack of preseason contributing to a low scoring total for this game.

Where Is the Money Going?

Who is the public backing for the Week 1 tilt?

Currently, 69% of the bets and 67% of the money is on the Eagles to cover the 6-point spread. So the public is all over the Eagles early, but the line has held steady at six. This presents a potential opportunity to fade the public.

The under is getting hammered, with 81% and 98% of the bets and money, respectively, looking for a low total in this game.

Be sure to check back as we’ll keep this updated throughout the week as more info comes in on the game.

Eagles vs. Washington Props

Prop bets have not yet been released for the Eagles and Washington, but you can expect to see a myriad bets on player touchdown props, receiving yards leaders, and odds boosts. FOX Bet in particular will roll out a series of “bet boosts” custom tailored to Eagles fans given that Pennsylvania and New Jersey are two of the three markets FOX Bet is live in.
