Another sports betting option is live in Pennsylvania as Bet Rivers Sportsbook has officially launched in PA.

Bet Rivers is one of four online sports betting site in Pennsylvania and the sister site of SugarHouse Sportsbook, which launched in late May. Both Bet Rivers and SugarHouse Sportsbook are owned by Rush Street, which said it actually plans to merge the two brands later this year, with SugarHouse Casino in Philly becoming “Rivers Philadelphia.” Like SugarHouse, Bet Rivers offers iOS betting through the mobile web.

The branding differences actually create an opportunity for bettors, however.

SugarHouse players should sign up for Bet Rivers Sportsbook

While the sites and apps are virtually identical save for a few branding and stylistic elements, it makes a lot of sense for current SugarHouse players to sign up for Bet Rivers. They are eligible to receive the same $250 deposit match upon sign up. This is one of the best legal sports betting bonus offers around because players only need to bet their bonus once before it is eligible for withdraw.

This makes even more sense when you consider that SugarHouse will eventually be merged into the Rivers brand anyway.

It’s unclear how Rush will handle current SugarHouse players once they do away with the brand (they certainly won’t keep your money)– whether they will transfer users to the current Bet Rivers app or have two similarly branded apps in PA is not yet known.

But since Bet Rivers will be the main brand going forward and they are offering a $250 deposit match to new users, there’s really not reason not to sign up.

Bet Rivers and iOS

Like SugarHouse Sportsbook, users can sign up and claim their $250 deposit match at Bet Rivers from any device and use an iOS workaround to bet on their iPhones and iPads. Rivers joins SugarHouse and FanDuel as the third PA betting option on iOS devices.

What’s next?

While Bet Rivers and SugarHouse are effectively the same product, other sites and apps are expected in the near future. Parx Sportsbook is technically live, but in sort of a soft launch period with little promotional fanfare. They use the same provider as Bet Rivers and SugarHouse – Kambi – and are still working out the kinks, so at this point we can’t firmly recommend them.

FanDuel Sportsbook PA officially launched this week– they are obviously one to watch. FOX Bet and Unibet are also on track to launch later this year.

For now, Bet Rivers is, excuse the pun, is a good bet.
