College football has returned. If last week was the hors d’oeuvres for the first official weekend of football, then this weekend is the full entree as college football betting is available across Pennsylvania thanks to PA online sports betting.

While sites have been live for a few months now, many of you are probably wondering where and how you can get in on the action legally in the state of Pennsylvania. Well, look no further. We have the answers on where you can bet, how you can bet, who to bet, and which sportsbook apps we recommend.

Before we get into it, it’s worth noting that two of what should prove to be the more popular sportsbooks, DraftKings Sportsbook PA and Fox Bet, are expected to launch within the next week, possibly before the start of the NFL season. So if you’re holding out for those, it’s worth checking out some of their competitors who are offering strong signup bonuses heading into football season.

Our top recommended option is FanDuel Sportsbook PA.

FanDuel Sportsbook

FanDuel is the biggest online sportsbook in New Jersey by a pretty wide margin over DraftKings. While both were neck and neck throughout the course of last football season, FanDuel has steadily gained an advantage. Part of the reason is because they have a physical sportsbook in New Jersey and also a significant marketing presence.

FanDuel has the best interface of any sports betting app. It is clean, simple to use, and instantly make sense to betters and non-betters alike.

For the first weekend of college football, they are offering a $500 risk-free bet to new users, which is their standard offer.

Parlay insurance, close loss insurance, and more notably, +2019 odds on spread bets for any college team’s first game of the year with a maximum bet up to $10 are also being offered. This means they will pay out $201.90 on a $10 bet for any team that covers in its first game. This is only available to new users on their first bet. That’s a strong deal with a proven sportsbook. You can sign up here.

SugarHouse Sportsbook

SugarHouse Sportsbook is also very good. It does not offer an iOS app and can only be played through the mobile web on iPhones. That’s the downside. The upside is that they offer a wide range of deposit options, some of the best in the industry, and a strong $250 deposit match, which means they will match your first deposit up to $250 and you only have to play with that money once before it is eligible for withdrawal. This is the most straightforward and user-friendly bonus in the industry.

Additionally, they are running a season long NFL pick ’em contest in Pennsylvania. It is $150 to enter and there are $500,000 in prizes with the top prize winning $125,000.

SugarHouse offers odds on even more sports than FanDuel and the app is updated frequently with tons of live and in-game betting. We really like SugarHouse, even if the interface isn’t as pretty. You can sign up here.

BetRivers

Bet Rivers Sportsbook is almost identical to SugarHouse. It has the same parent company, Rush Street Interactive, but is based on the Pittsburgh brand where they have a physical casino. The app looks almost identical, save for a more palatable shade of blue and some minor interface enhancements. The downside is that unlike SugarHouse, which offers an online casino in PA, Rivers only offers the sportsbook, but they do have the $500,000 NFL pick ’em contest.

Parx Sportsbook

Lastly is Parx Sportsbook. While it does offer an iOS app and generally looks similar to SugarHouse, it is much newer (SugarHouse has existed in New Jersey for a few years), and from our experience seems to have a frustrating interface at times with some mild quirks and a decidedly casino feel to it. It’s fine and it works, but we’d recommend any of the others ahead of it.

So there’s your best bets to play. We’ve put together betting guides for the Penn State-Idaho game, the West Virginia-JMU game, the Oregon-Auburn game, and more for this weekend.
