Hey, the Phillies signed another over-30 white guy today.

According to CSNPhilly.com, the Phillies and Laynce Nix have agreed to a two-year deal, pending a physical.

Laynce's (get used to that spelling) 2011 stats: .250, 16 HR, 44 RBI in 324 at-bats. Not a bad bench (platoon?) player, but why do I get the feeling that Rube has more up his sleeve this offseason?

Meanwhile, in Miami, the Marlins have offered Jose Reyes a six-year, $111 million deal.

i dont get the hate on the moves we have improved are bench big time….thome gives you power wiggiton can play any postion and nix can still hit and all of them are good club house guys
the last two years we lost to the cards and giants and mainly because slow white guys like ross and freeze had timley hits….

  4. i’d still like a guy that can can play everyday and hit for average, preferably a shortstop.

jose reyes is a d-bag let him go to the miami marlins and dance around like a jerk off after all 7 of his home runs next year…..winter meetings didnt even start yet lets see how j-roll talks play out…so far i like what RAJ has done with the bench

  6. why not resign Raul instead? he almost certainly would have taken the same $$ per year on a one year deal and their 2011 stats are very similar (Raul actually had a lot more RBIs, but I’m afraid to say that anymore with the SABR-police lurking out there…)

  7. 2008 Team had Pat Burrell, Geoff Jenkins, and Matt Stairs…..All over 30, all white, all key postseason contributors

  8. Hey Douchebag! What’s with the “white guy” comment? You need to knock that off because if it’s not ok to say “black guy” it’s not ok to say “white guy.” If he sucks fine but why is it ok to point out that he’s white if he sucks? I understand it’s a lot more popular to hate on white people put please let’s keep the race card out of sports if we can.

  9. I’d actually like Kyle Scott’s vagina to be cleaned

  10. White, blue, blue or purple, this was hardly an awe-inspiring deal. And, yeah, I’d rather have Cuddyer too.

  11. wow that sounds more ridiculous than I thought December 4, 2011 at 7:23 pm

oh yeah that guys definitely on steroids

  12. the Eagles had the “Dream Team” and the Phils have the AARP team.

  17. seriously greg. shut up, grow up, and get a life

  18. Yes “white guy” isn’t offensive to me but just imagine if the phillies signed an african american and KYLE posted a headline that said “THE PHILS SIGNED ANOTHER 30 YR OLD BLACK GUY.” I’m sure that would go over just as easy as “white guy.”….. NOT!!!! At least he’d get to meet Al Sharpton. I like this blog and i just hope the race/politics/religion card stays out.

Funny, that’s exactly what goes through me head when you try impostering me.
Now go back to “fucking anyone”, since you’re no good at impostering me.

  20. Calm down you niggers and crackers

  21. If they hit and field well, I don’t care how old they are.

  22. So… this got oddly racist for some reason…

  23. In a post last month, kyle got in trouble for referring to a guy at the hockey game as the token black guy:
    http://www.crossingbroad.com/2011/11/your-morning-carts-i-went-to-the-flyers-game-in-a-private-suite-with-a-harem-of-girls-and-was-sad-ed.html%20
He has since removed the phrase after this guy threatened defamation and libel:

  24. I’ll take Nix over Ben Fran allllll day

  25. The fucking Marlins are going to win the World Series. Bank on it. I just put $100 down in Vegas on it.

  26. STOP the fighting and be thankful for everything you have!!

  27. You’re right sorry guys I’m a douche

  28. (Pause the fight) I live in DC and go to Nationals games a few times a week- Lanyce was one of my favorite Nats to watch. He’s a great utility player- he’s versatile, and plays hard whenever he’s in the field. Also has a lot of pop in his bat. One thing I do have against him (completely unrelated to baseball)- he wears very ed hardy-ish clothes, ew. I got to serve him at my sports bar… He and Mike Morse told me they were dolphin trainers at Sea World.

  29. Paula Grace shared with us that the home shown belongs to a busy couple with three very active kids.
