Monday Night Football debuted for the 2014 season last night. And while Matthew Stafford single handedly took me down in Fantasy Football, the ratings for the game weren’t great. According to Deadline, the first game of the doubleheader drew a 9.2 rating “in metered market results,” which is down from last year’s Eagles/Redskins game, which set a record with a 11.6 result, dominating “both cable and broadcast networks.” Last night’s second game, the Cardinals/Chargers matchup, pulled a 7.8 compared to last year’s 7.7, a negligible difference. Therefore, by the process of elimination, it’s safe to say Monday Night Football needs the Eagles for ratings. We’ll see how that all shakes out next week.
