This weekend there was a fire at the Wildwood substation that left 24,000 without power. No electricity in motels, no 11 a.m. boardwalk National Anthem, and no Juliano Brothers at Keenans for almost 48 hours. It was madness! Think of all of the wasted food and lukewarm Twea Lights during the heat wave!

AC Electric was dealt with an impossible task and continued missing deadline after deadline. Then, when they would fix it, another transformer would fry:

The only one who seemed to make the right decision was Marty:

Everything stopped in its tracks for the weekend. People were handcuffed because nothing worked! Except one thing: That god damn tram car…

Whole island doesn’t have power and the Tram Car is running better than ever. Does it run on the ground-up polyester of unsold “Joe Biden 2024” t-shirts? There is no reason that thing should be on during a city-wide blackout. It’s borderline Chinese Wooder Torture.

The one thing I always love about these situations is the reporting from the local news stations. They treat this shit like they’ve got boots on the ground in Baghdad. This guy flipped his light switch on! Then he flipped it off! And the power still didn’t work! Tonight at 11!

Go nuts for this highlight package of generators!

That and the video of a dark boardwalk is Chris O’Connell’s Heisman moment:

Fox 29 is going to have to get a new trophy case for all the Mid-Atlantic Emmys they’re going to gobble up this year!

Power was finally restored late Saturday night:

That, “Way to go Wildwood!” was hilarious. Reminded me of the, “Three days! Buckley and Company! Three days!” union folk from the I-95 rebuild.

I gotta know though. What happens now that they missed 48 hours of the 11 a.m. National Anthem? Do they play three today so people can fill their metaphorical patriotic tank? Can someone who’s down there report back? How will the children know which colors do and which colors don’t run if they didn’t hear the anthem every day at 11am for all 100 days of the summer?

P.S. There is no savvier business than the Wildwood t-shirt shops. They never miss an opp:
