Bob Wankel was an overnight machine and did a Monday morning post about the no-call in Cobb County that awarded the Phillies a 7-6 win.

He mentioned Dansby Swanson calling out ridiculous Braves fans, who threw shit on the field, but the full video is even better. It’s mandatory viewing:

Swanson:

“I love this city. I love our fans. They’re passionate and they care. But what happened after they announced that call, that’s the most embarrassing part of the whole night. Not the call, but the reaction and the throwing of things on the field. Because, number one, it’s disrespectful to the people who put in so much work to have the field ready for us every day, to make sure it’s in the best shape possible. Number two, endangering the players, that’s incredibly disrespectful. It’s an embarrassing representation of our city.”

Yes, well said, and hopefully a Phillies player would say the same thing if we acted like a bunch of dumbasses and threw garbage on the field at Citizens Bank Park.

The surprising thing is that Atlanta baseball fans even gave enough of a shit to do this. Everybody knows it’s a college football town, full of transplants who moved in from somewhere else and don’t care too much about the Braves, Falcons, or Hawks. Plus, the best team in that city over the past three years has been Atlanta United, which regularly pulls more than 50,000 people per game and actually wins trophies. When the Braves fall back to Earth after this good run they’re on, Atlanta will go back to NASCAR and UGA football and soccer and everything else that a melting pot city is interested in.
