And out of nowhere, per TSN's Darren Dreger:

UPDATE: Blue Jackets GM Scott Howson says deal is "not done yet." More as it develops.

UPDATE 2: Blue Jackets beat reporter Aaron Portzline:

And thus continues the trend of the Flyers trading highly-touted young players (goalies, specifically) who never amounted to anything during their time in Philadelphia.

Something tells me this is just the beginning, though. I'm sans pants and eating salt water taffies. Leggo!

    Beat It Bob!!!!!

  2. No big loss. He spit the bit every time he was given the chance to be the #1 guy. And with Bryz here for the next (gulp) eight years, no way he was going to see any significant time anyway.

  3. Not sure this is “out of no where.” They’ve been shopping Bob since the deadline.

  4. If we got pickS (plural) for our backup, I’m fine with that. Probably also means they may draft a goalie.

  5. never gave him a chance…

  6. I agree with Dave… I’d rather see Bryz go, give a young goalie an actual chance, concept the Flyers org is unfamiliar with.

  7. How was he highly touted? He was an undrafted free agent we just flipped for a second rounder plus some.
And to you geniuses saying youd rather have traded Bryz: No Shit! Who is taking the last 8 years of that deal?

  8. Getting rid of Bryz not an option. Typical that people trash him and only remember the sloppy goal in the deciding game of NJ series, even though Bryz was best Flyer on the ice in games 2 and 4. Not to mention flashes of brilliance late in reg. season.

  9. Whew…

I don’t like reading Kyle’s posts anymore, I just like reading the comments. That’s what keeps me coming back to this site all you cool cats out there with your witty comments. Keep’em coming!

Bryz is here to stay, get used to it. Bryz never really was able to get settled this past season. Mark my words. “You will see a very different goalie come out of Bryz this up coming season.”

  12. If columbus wins the cup im going to shoot myself.

    `

  14. I can confirm he’s eating my taffy…

  15. Like someone already said, a no-name, undrafted free agent is far from “highly-touted.” Glad Bob’s gonna be starting, and I’m glad the frontrunning dumbasses can’t say “Start Bob!” anymore… probably start hearing “Start Hovinen,” soon though. Douchebags.

Soooooo highly touted. He beat out Michael Leighton for a job, that was some tough competition. You cant pay a back up goalie 1.75. They will have to sign one for about 800K but that saves another mil. Obvious move, even with him destined to be a HOF.

  17. WHY didn’t they trade him to a Canadian team so he could be with Olga?!
    PAUL HOLMGREN YOU HEARTLESS BASTARD

  18. hahahahah fresh

  19. GET THE 6TH OVERALL AND DRAFT THE SHIT OUT OF MATT DUMBA. ALL CAPS NEEDED.

  20. Bryz is gonna be a monster next year I can feel it.

  21. they both played rlly well when lavvy gave em the chance to start continuous games this one game bryz nd bobs was horseshit no way a goalie can ever get in a rhythm with all the changing goin on watch bobs will go on to be a pretty good goaltender and bryz will do fine here

  22. Great so when CBJ is moved into the East we can see him 8 times a year.

  23. Didnt give him a chance? He was given the starting role a few years back and was forced to split with Bouch because he was awful. He had the chance to play and failed.
We got 3 Draft picks (including #45) for a backup goalie. That is a steal.
Great move. Bring a vet in cheap to backup Bryz. Draft a goalie and put him in the system.
You cant get Weber this year then look for a solid big D man with experience.

  24. hope Sergie Bob gets to start somewhere…Bryz will settle down now that he’s the only Rooski in town.
The Flyers mantra has always been “WIN NOW”.
Maybe i’m wrong but i really didnt see the Kings do anything different, but then again Bryz’s soft goals and some players losing their man did us in.
