More People in Philly Watched Taney-Las Vegas than the 2012 Winter Classic
The overnight ratings are in for Taney-Las Vegas, and my God, they’re massive.

With Davis pitching for Philadelphia’s Taney Dragons on Wednesday night — her team lost 8-1 to Las Vegas — ESPN set a new record for the highest-rated Little League World Series telecast ever to air on its network. (The final viewership numbers will be out later today.) For comparison: The 3.4 rating ESPN received tops CBS’ final-round rating (3.1) for the WGC-Bridgestone Invitational last Sunday, as well as that night’s Yankees-Red Sox broadcast (1.7).
Locally, the game did incredible numbers. The matchup drew a 16.3 rating in Las Vegas and a 14.9 rating in Philadelphia, both records for Little League World Series telecasts in those markets.
Let’s compare that thing… to other things. The 14.9 rating in Philadelphia (keeping in mind that overnight ratings change) is better than:
The 11.9 local overnight rating the Flyers-Rangers Winter Classic AT CITIZENS BANK PARK received.
The 14.6 local rating Game 1 of the Flyers-Penguins series received in 2012.
The 3.4 average local rating the Phillies received in 2013.
