From Jalen Reagor’s Instagram story, here’s Russ trying to stir the pot:

The matte helmets have signatures on them, so these would appear to be Riddell replicas for signing/auction/charity or something along those lines.

However –

Both of these helmets are sick. The white helmet with the modern Eagle wing and green outline looks really sharp, and could be worn with KELLY GREEN if they decided to bring it back. They actually used to wear this type of helmet back in the day, but the wing itself was entirely green and looked like this:

The matte helmets also look slick, though I’ll admit I’m partially colorblind and couldn’t originally tell that they were black. I thought they were dark green. Apparently Riddell sells these online, and a quick Google reveals a Donovan McNabb mini helmet, among other items:

The kelly green topic came back around recently because the NFL is expected to amend the “one helmet” rule in 2021, which would allow the Birds to wear matching helmet/uniform combinations in colors outside of white, black, or midnight green. The Eagles haven’t worn kelly green since the 2010 home opener, which was a special 50-year celebration of the Birds’ 1960 championship. That was a one-off thing, though, which is why it hasn’t happened since.

Back to the topic at hand –

I think the white helmets look great. The black matte is a killer. I’d personally be all for the NFL lifting uniform regulations entirely, which would allow teams to mix and match on a weekly basis, like in college football. Some people roll their eyes when Oregon puts together 475 uni combos each season, but the players seem to really enjoy that side of the game, and it would give us something new and unique to look at. I don’t know if it HAS to be kelly green, but the Eagles could probably benefit from a refresh or an updated look.

Time’s yours.
