Let’s take a closer look at the top Nets vs. Celtics Game 4 player prop picks and make some predictions for this May 30, 2021 NBA Playoffs matchup.
Nets vs. Celtics Player Props for Game 4 (May 30, 2021)
The Boston Celtics are set to host a critical Game 4 against the Brooklyn Nets at the TD Garden in what could mark a pivotal moment of this first round playoff series. Jayson Tatum’s 50-point effort in Game 3 propelled the Celtics to victory, while Marcus Smart’s 23 points and Tristan Thompson’s 19 points were integral. The most remarkable part of Game 3 was arguably the fact that only seven Celtics scored in the game, yet they put up their highest point total of the postseason.

The Brooklyn Nets trailed by just four points at the end of the first half in Game 3, but they allowed Boston to open up a 12-point lead through three quarters. Despite a strong fourth quarter, Brooklyn didn’t get the job done. James Harden led all Nets with 41 points, while Kevin Durant dropped 39 of his own in the losing effort. Kyrie Irving didn’t meet the moment, putting up 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists in 41 minutes of action in the Game 3 loss.
Will Brooklyn take a strong 3-1 lead in this series or will Boston level things at two games apiece?
Kevin Durant to Score Over 27.5 Points (-146, FanDuel Sportsbook)
Nets superstar Kevin Durant had a strong regular season, posting 26.9 points, 7.1 rebounds, and 5.6 assists in 35 games. Injury issues and load management may have very well been the right call as Durant looks fresh and well-rested for a deep postseason run.
Durant followed up a 32-point performance in Game 1 with 26 points in ten fewer minutes of action in Game 2. Although it came in a Game 3 loss, Durant’s most impressive scoring performance came on Friday night. In that contest, he shot 13-24 (54.2%) from the field, including 4-9 from beyond the arc en route to a 39-point night.
Although he only played in one regular season game against Boston, it’s worth noting he posted 29 points in his lone meeting. As such, he’s averaging 31.5 points per game against the Celtics across four meetings this season. Aside from a 12-minute appearance in the 2019 NBA Finals, Durant has put up at least 28 points in 10 of his last 12 postseason games.

James Harden to Make Over 2.5 Three-Point Field Goals (-125, BetMGM)
James Harden is coming off his most impressive performance of this first round series, one which saw him go off for 41 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds. It was a welcome sight for those who might have otherwise found themselves disappointed by Harden’s newfound role as a facilitator rather than the ruthless scorer who asserted his dominance in every zone on the court during his time in Houston.
In Game 3, Harden attempted 18 field goals, his highest total thus far in the series. He shot 11-18 from the field, including 7-12 (58.3%) from downtown. Perhaps even more impressively, Harden made three times as many free throws in Game 3 (12) than he attempted in Game 2 (4). When it comes to this “Over 2.5 Made Three-Point Field Goals” market, keep in mind that he’s cleared that threshold in each of the last two games, averaging 8 attempts from deep in the first two games before jumping to 12 attempts in Game 3. Since becoming a member of the Brooklyn Nets, Harden has hit 3+ shots from deep in 24 of 40 games, including 16 of his last 26. All of this is to say, it stands to reason Harden will continue to look for good looks from deep and make three or more three-point field goals for the third consecutive game.

Tristan Thompson to Score Over 10.5 Points (+107, DraftKings Sportsbook)
Celtics big man Tristan Thompson has seen an increase in productivity through each of the first three games of this series. After posting 4 points and 10 rebounds in 24:50 of action in Game 1, Thompson recorded a 15 point, 11 rebound double-double in 24:36 in Game 2. Game 3 saw an uptick in game action, with Thompson spending over 30 minutes on the court in Boston’s lone win of the series thus far. He shot 8-13 from the field as he dropped 19 points to go with 13 rebounds.
Going back to the regular season, Thompson scored 8 points per game in three games against the Nets, however his recent form would appear to indicate a solid likelihood of him recording at least 11 points as Boston’s best big man.
