Best Thanksgiving NFL Player Props Picks

Bears vs. Lions (David Montgomery Anytime Touchdown Scorer)

David Montgomery has the best odds of any player to score when Chicago heads to Detroit, and with good reason. To begin, Montgomery dominated the Lions in the first meeting between these two teams earlier this season, rushing 23 times for 106 yards and two touchdowns. With injuries piling up at the offensive skill positions for Chicago, expect the lightly-used Montgomery to see a large share of touches in this one.

The Iowa State product has missed four games and has yet to top 14 carries since returning to play. Still, if the Bears live up to their billing as favorites here, Montgomery will be needed to drain that second half clock with his relatively fresh legs.

He remains the clear top choice running back for the Bears. In his two games since returning from the knee sprain that landed him on injured reserve, he has rushed the ball 27 total times, with all other Bears backs getting just five carries combined.

He leads the team in carries, rushing yards, yards per carry, and rushing touchdowns. He has also yet to fumble this season, a crucial detail in a winnable game for Chicago.

While Chicago backs have scored just two touchdowns in the last six games, Montgomery missed four of those games. He will face a Detroit defense that has allowed 17 touchdowns to opposing backs, including three to the Bears in ther first head-to-head matchup.

Detroit is the second worst team in football at stopping the run, allowing 140.5 yards per game on the ground. Opponents have called 50 percent of their plays as runs against Detroit, easily the highest percentage in the league. That has led to the Lions seeing the most rushes per game against (31.6), and the 1.1 rushing touchdowns allowed per game by the Lions is tied for sixth most in the NFL.

Heck, that does not even take into account the seven receiving touchdowns scored by opposing backs.

Raiders vs. Cowboys (Dalton Schultz Anytime Touchdown Scorer)

This is a tremendous return for a player who is tied for second on the Cowboys in receptions, third in targets, third in yards, and tied for third in touchdown catches. With Blake Jarwin on IR, Dalton Schultz is the only show in town at tight end for Dallas, and he stands to play a big role against Las Vegas.

Schultz has been targeted at least five times in all but two games and has caught at least four passes in all but three. One of the games in which he failed to do so was when Cooper Rush filled in at quarterback for Dak Prescott against the Vikings a few weeks back. Prescott is back now and enters play off a brutal performance in which he failed to throw at least one touchdown for just the second time this season.

After the his only other effort with no touchdown passes, Prescott responded by throwing multiple touchdowns in each of his next six outings. In fact, he threw two touchdown passes to tight ends in each of the two games immediately following that outing.

Las Vegas has struggled mightily against opposing tight ends all season on multiple fronts. Opposing tight ends have led the team in receiving yards against the Raiders in six of their last eight games. Las Vegas has also allowed opposing tight ends to score six touchdowns over the last seven games.

On a broader scale, despite a fifth ranked defense in terms of passing yardage, the Raiders allow 1.8 passing scores per game, tied for fifth highest in football, which is an average that has spiked to 2.3 per game over the team’s last three outings.

Be sure to check out our complete guide Thanksgiving NFL betting promos.

While the Raiders allowed just one passing score last week, the last three times they conceded no more than one passing touchdown in a game this season, they responded in the following contest by allowing at least three scores through the air, including five in the most recent instance. Schultz should have every opportunity to break out his best Thanksgiving touchdown celebration here.

Bills vs. Saints (Josh Allen Anytime Touchdown Scorer)

The Bills cannot play around in this game. They desperately need to go with what has brought them the most success this season in a borderline must-win.  After all, a loss means the surging Patriots to open up a 1.5 game lead in the AFC East ahead of the first of two head-to-head meetings beginning in Week 13.

For Buffalo, that bread-and-butter of its offense centers around Josh Allen using his legs around the goal line. Allen has three rushing scores this season, which ties him for fourth among all quarterbacks. It’s worth noting that none of Allen’s rushing scores came in the team’s four losses. With backup Mitch Trubisky also running one in earlier this season, Bills quarterbacks have scored with their legs in 67 percent of the team’s wins, but none of the team’s losses.

Buffalo will be facing the league’s third best rushing defense here, a unit that entered Week 11 as the top run-stuffing unit in football. That was before New Orleans bumped into Philadelphia, the NFL’s second most productive rushing squad. The Eagles were savvy enough to realize the Saints have not allowed an opposing back to run for a touchdown in four (now five) straight games, with opposing running backs totaling just four rushing touchdowns against New Orleans in total this season.

As such, Eagles dual threat quarterback Jalen Hurt, had to take matters into his own hands, promptly rushing for three scores on his own while extending his league lead in that category.

Allen has a similar ability to Hurts in the red zone. With the Bills knowing that the Saints ahve now allowed five quarterback runs for scores over the last three games, the only rushing touchdowns they allowed in that span, expect Allen to impose his will around goal line.

He already has 28 rushing touchdowns through 54 career games and should cash in on a nearly 2:1 return for this prop.
