All-Star worthy again.

For the second straight year, Joel Embiid is an All-Star starter. As he should be. And his production is picking up from last year.

He’s playing on average three more minutes than a year ago, and that’s resulting in an increase of five more points per game, 3.5 assists per game, and two more rebounds. He’s also got 40 double-doubles on the season, which is tied with Rudy Gobert in that category with three fewer games.

It should be another close race for Defensive Player of the Year with Gobert, who has slightly higher steals and blocks per game than Embiid (and we’re talking decimals higher). The Jazz are currently seventh in the Western Conference, but the bottom of the conference is always tight.

Moving on to the rest of the team, which includes Corey Brewer again. The team will sign Brewer to another 10-day contract today. This is his second 10-day contract, which means Brewer will either need to sign a one-year deal or not be on the team after this one is up.

The Blue Coats are getting a couple new guys. Zhaire Smith and Justin Patton were assigned to the Sixers’ G-League affiliate. That’s a good sign for both.

The Sixers will be in Denver tomorrow night when they take on the Nuggets. This comes after Wednesday night’s thrilling win, and also saw Brett Brown sit Embiid and Ben Simmons, who could be an All-Star reserve, at the same time. Shouldn’t expect viral dance-offs in Denver.

The Flyers loaned Carter Hart to the Phantoms. That’s just so he doesn’t have any rust returning from the All-Star break. The team isn’t in tank mode. Expect to see him back up before Monday’s game against Winnipeg.
